_ GREETINGS FOR 1952
a aaa)
I cannot do the big things
That win the world’s acclaim,
So I don’t know how I would feel
To have cheers greet my name.
But I can take a few brown bulibs
And place them ’neath the sod,
And on some April mornng
Feel a little bit like God.
A! He SPost:
Another flower season is drawing near with -the
opportunity to extend Greetings to my friends and cus-
tomers “old and new.”
One of the most difficult things in the world to do is to
express one’s feelings in mere words but I would like to
convey my sincere thanks and apprecation to you. Your
friendship and loyalty mean so much to me. I enjoy the
personal contact with so many of you each fall when you
visit my flower garden. Thanks again and all good
wishes.
Although we had to dig the dahlias out of ankle deep
mud, I never had finer roots and lots of them—but order
early—I never seem to have enough of some kinds. Tell
me when you want your roots and bulbs and I will try
to send at that time.
Parcel Post rates are higher again so I am forced to
add a little to the price of my COLLECTIONS to help pay
postage but you will find my prices lower on many
varieties of dahlias.
All bulbs and plants are state inspected—guaranteed
true to name, and to reach you in good growing condi-
tion. If not satisfied, let me know at once, and I will
make adjustment.
All orders amounting to $1.25 or more are sent post-
paid—if less than $1.25 please add 10c for postage.
Stamps accepted for orders of less than $1.00.
READ BEFORE ORDERING
If you live west of the Rockies and order
dahlias—please add 50c to your order to help.
pay for “special inspection”? which is required
under the new plant laws.

A FEW POINTERS ON DAHLIA CULTURE
Plant tubers 4 to 6 inches deep and about three feet
apart in well worked soil. I usually plant from May 20th
to June 10th. Do not plant near buildings or trees—
they do best in full sun. Keep top soil stirred, allow no
crust to form and keep free of grass and weeds. Do not
water unless very dry—then soak thoroughly once a
weekt—a slight sprinkling will do more harm than good.
As the buds develop in groups of three—remove the two
side ‘buds leaving only the middle or terminal bud and
you will have large flowers with longer stems.
